Joining us to discuss today’s headlines is Tasmanian Senator, Jacqui Lambie and Liberal Senator Michaelia Cash. Good morning ladies, nice to see you on the sitting day in parliament in Canberra. Jacquie, you’re the voice. Try and understand that Peter Dutton says.

Jacqui Lambie

Well, I say to Peter Dutton where’s the detail baby? Where’s the detail? Come on? Fair go? Where’s the detail? Was that a brain fart yesterday? Because I think he’s put himself in a world of hurt. Where’s your detail mate? You’ve come out, you’ve come out, you’ve gobbed off. to do tell me. You come out. You’ve gobbed off. Where’s the detail? How you gonna run this? Come on.

Karl Stefanovic

Alright, you’re not up for a second referendum? I mean, I love these referendums.

Jacqui Lambie

No, not particularly mate. The referendum I’m interested in is the Republic one.

Karl Stefanovic

Alright, Michaelia. The Opposition Leader has not outlined as Jacqui points out so eloquently he ‘gobbed’ off yesterday. A specific proposal or a timeline for a second referendum. Isn’t the argument that says argument against the current referendum?

Senator Cash

Well, no actually. The whole point is – this should be a unifying moment for our country and Mr. Albanese is successfully dividing it. But I also have to say Peter Dutton was dead right yesterday, when he highlighted the irony of the Voice as the anthem for the ‘yes’ case, you’re the voice try and understand it. Well, that’s the whole point. People want the details, but Mr. Albanese to date has either failed to provide them with them or alternatively let’s face it, there are no details. So you do try and understand this voice. But guess what? You can’t. Well again, the point that Peter is making is this should be a unifying moment for our country.

Karl Stefanovic

Alright, so this morning you’re going to confirm the details of the second Referendum and when it’s going to actually be held? Michaelia, Michaelia come on.

Senator Cash

80% of Australians. But guess what? It’s all about Mr. Albanese and his proposal which Australians will go to the polls in around six weeks. And guess what? It is risky, it is unknown, It is divisive and it is permanent. Hence the irony of John Farnham’s the voice. You’re the voice, try and understand it. Well, guess what? You can’t because there are no details.

Karl Stefanovic

Come on he gobbed off yesterday, give us some details this morning. I know. But your second referendum that you’re proposing, what are the details?

Senator Cash

Well again, Peter’s been upfront. Our position is there should be constitutional recognition of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander Australians. This should be a unifying moment for our country, we would work with the Australian people, we would work with the Labor Party to bring forward a referendum that we all support. That is the clear difference between him and Mr. Albanese who has deliberately sought one would say to divide our country and do that based on the polls successfully.

Karl Stefanovic

Jacquie, they’ve got a bit of pep in their step haven’t they? The Coalition.

Jacqui Lambie

Well, geez mate, it’s only early. It’s like only quarter to seven or something. Give it a rest, give it til lunchtime.

Karl Stefanovic

Okay, backlash continues for the government over the decision to block more Qatar Airways flights. Now both the South Australia and Queensland Government’s calling for more flights. Jacquie Labor going Labor, you know you’ve got some issues.

Jacqui Lambie

Look, I am just really worried on whether it’s going to have any effect on those smaller airlines, domestic ones that we have here. I have yet to have an opportunity Karl, to be honest with you to speak to Sharp, speak to Rex on these sort of things. So I just before I say too much more, I just want to see whether or not they feeling, they’ve been very quiet. And I’ll contact them obviously, over the next few days and just see where they’re feeling, what they think is going to be the outcome if any outcome is on them. Because the last thing we want going down is domestic carriers – that will not be helpful. We’ve seen this in the early 2000s when Qantas took over and it knocked Rex out of the skies. And we went without in Burney for about 12 months without an airline carrier there at all because of that. So I just want to make sure there’s no unintended consequences.

Karl Stefanovic

I can’t imagine Qatar suddenly diving into the Sydney-Griffiths Leg though?

Jacqui Lambie

No but mate it might want to run the Tasmanian leg you see because we’re very important don’t you forget that.

Karl Stefanovic

Michaelia I mean, how quickly can we get these flights ramped up? And you’re in Parliament today, is the Transport Minister in your sights?

Senator Cash

Oh look, absolutely and Mr. Albanese before he gets on his plane tomorrow to go overseas, should stand up and actually say there’s going to be a review of this decision. Mr. Albanese has been unable to date to explain to the Australian people why he believes it’s in the national interest not to reduce airfares? Why he believes it’s not in the national interest to get our farmers produce on planes and get it out of this country? And why it’s in the national interest to not bring more consumers and tourists into this country to help our ailing tourism and hospitality industries? So Mr. Albanese, we all expect you today on behalf of the Australian people stand up and announce the review. Do what’s right for the Australian people and for once as the Prime Minister act in the best interests of Australia and not your mates in Qantas.

Karl Stefanovic

Jaquie, do you think Labor’s got some issues now?

Jacqui Lambie

I think that this really needs to be looked at. So, whether that needs to go to a quick inquiry, I’m not really sure but I think I need a lot more information on any unintended consequences. That’s what I want to look at before it’s given the okay. But obviously making that decision straight off the cuff like that, I hope he’s got it right. But seriously, it is the talk of the day and I think we will need to all have a good look at this over the next week.

Karl Stefanovic

Okay, you got three hours to pump yourself up Jacqui. Michaelia’s ready to go, she’s at the gates, chomping at the bit.

Jacqui Lambie

I had the popcorn, I’m a bit like you Karl. I thought of just bringing out the popcorn and stepping back a bit.

Karl Stefanovic

Have a great day ladies, thanks for being on the show.

Senator Cash

Great to be with you.
