COALITION DEAL DELIVERS $6.2 BILLION EXTRA GST FOR WA IN 2024
The Coalition’s landmark GST deal struck in 2018 will deliver Western Australia an extra $6.2 billion in the 2024/25 financial year.
An update released by the Commonwealth Grants Commission today shows that WA will receive an estimated total of $7.257 billion in GST distributions in 2024/25.
“Today’s Commonwealth Grants Commission update on GST distributions for 2024/25 clearly shows how strongly the Coalition delivered for Western Australia when we changed the formula in 2018,” Senator Cash said.
“Our changes, which set a floor of 75 cents in the dollar from 2024/25 means Western Australia will receive an estimated $6.2 billion more than we would have under the old formula,’’ she said.
“WA would have dropped to around 11 cents in the dollar, or about $1.05 billion, under the old formula,’’ Senator Cash said.
“The WA Coalition team fought hard for the GST changes which are still delivering for our great State,” she said.
“The Coalition team has always and will continue to stand up for Western Australia,’’ Senator Cash said.
