SENATOR CASH STATEMENT
I am honoured and delighted to be appointed Shadow Attorney-General as part of the new Opposition frontbench announced today by Leader of the Opposition, Angus Taylor.
I want to sincerely thank Angus for his confidence in me, and I look forward to working alongside him and the full shadow ministry as we hold this bad Albanese Government to account and present Australians with a strong, united and credible alternative government.
The Attorney-General’s portfolio holds a very special place for me.
Having had the privilege of serving as Australia’s 38th Attorney-General, I understand intimately the weight of responsibility this portfolio carries and the profound difference good law, justice and national security policy makes to the lives of every Australian.
The challenges ahead are significant. Australians deserve a justice system that is fair, efficient and properly resourced; a rule of law that is defended without apology; and a Shadow Attorney-General who will hold this government to account each and every day. I intend to do exactly that.
I also carry with pride my continued responsibilities as Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and member of Angus’s leadership team.
I am looking forward to getting to work.
